Part 1 Female Directors

What was the first film you directed, and how nervous were you?

The first film I directed alone was my movie, My Private Desires, Volume 1, Exquisite Feet. Which was nominated at the AVN awards for best specialty film. I am a natural born leader and very creative. I shot it at my studio and it all felt very natural. I was not nervous at all. I was very happy and relaxed. I had co–directed 2 films before that which were, Sex Detectives from Sunshine Films (a total mess- I work better alone) and ATV from my own production company Britco Pictures – www.britcopictures.com.

Does experience in front of camera help behind it?

Extremely. As an experienced model/actress it helps as you already have a feeling for what things look like on film. You can not be a good model without knowing as you are posing, exactly what you are going to look like on film. With that said, you are all ready a bit of a director. I think it also helps because talent trusts you. They know that you have done it before and you probably would not ask them to do something you would not do. I also as a talent/director, I am constantly jumping in front of the camera helping talent with poses and such. I think that really helps when you work with amateurs allot, which I do.

What do you look for from your stars?

I want them to A. show up!

Everyone knows in this biz you barely have a 50% chance that a model actually shows up. After that it is all easy. I like a good attitude. Someone who is fun and professional, I will hire again and again.

What's the hardest thing about directing?

For me it is doing so many things at one time. I have a tendency to take on a lot of hats while in the midst’s of production. So I am working with the wardrobe stylist, set designers, lighting crew, make up artists, the talent, the photographer, the PA- making sure all paperwork is done etc. I may in 15 mins, end up dealing with all of these people, damn near at one time. So it is serious juggling and multi-tasking. Making sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing and making sure we are on schedule, on time. But I will say, I am at my best in this kind of situation and I love the adrenalin rush of it all.

Do you think female directions can bring something different to the table than male directors? If so, what?

Totally, I think the women talent trust you and the men have more fun. My sets definitely have the overall tone that a woman is running things. For starters I shoot allot at my own studio. The décor at my studio is an array of pink and purples. Hello, can we say f-e-m-i-n-i-n-e. I am really laid back most of the time, I smile allot, make jokes and try to keep the set light. I also carry a riding crop in case anyone gets out of line. LOL.

But also coming from the perspective of the product, hells yes, as well. I am a female that believes in female sexual equality and I try to live out that passion thru my work. I think I shoot, well how can I not, I am a woman, from a female perspective point of view. I have different shots, angles etc. that men don’t shoot. Angles, women want to see. Like her POV, I get so tired of the shot with the camera over the mans shoulder looking at the woman. They never lie down and do the same with a woman. I do. One time, I even had to stop a shoot as the female talent thought the cameraman was hitting on her as she never had a cameraman do that. When I told her I was getting the female POV she was like, right on, and we continued shooting.

I think it is important to have female directors, as women are sexual too. Unfortunately female sexuality has been oppressed since the beginning of time. This is one way of us taking it back and exploring it and owning it. So much of sexuality is what men say is sexual. I disagree. I want women to explore there own sexuality and come up with what they find hot. I don’t think women have done much of that. We have acted like followers instead of leading ourselves to our own unique sexuality. I hope that with the different kinds of films I produce, that they empower women to look at there sexuality and discover it. I also hope that men will stay close and enjoy the ride.

Is the female perspective on porn different from men's, or is that a myth?

I think it is not much now. But as I said above I hope it that will change as women become more comfortable with there sexuality and explore what makes them hot. Women are different and we need costume made porn for our gender. I hope that women as they explore there sexuality will find all kinds of new alternatives to express our vast sexuality that has been oppressed for so long. I personally think women are 10 times more sexual in nature then men are but it has been oppressed so long it is going to take time for it to come out.

When you're directing, what do you have in mind - what you want to see, what a male consumer wants to see or what a female consumer wants to see?

I think, what does a man want to see thru my eyes. No matter what you do, I am still a female and I am going to always, as you may say, direct with rose colored glasses on.

Do you think if you were directing a film aimed at female consumers rather than male, it'd be notably different?

Oh yes, and it would for me be so much more fun to do. As I am a female. I personally would barely ever have the camera on the women and I would spend allot more time on casting the hottest men ever. I also would show men masturbating more and more shots of abs and ass!!! I so want to direct for Playgirl TV so I may do this. A girl has to have a dream J

Is directing female talent different from directing male talent? How?

Yes, I am a dominant woman and treat male talent like slaves most of the time. It keeps the set fun. Woman are more delicate and so you must present things differently, nicer.

Which female directors do you respect? Why?

Sophia Coppola. I loved, Lost in Translation. I used to live in Japan so I so respected how hard it must have been to do that movie. I also loved how it was so not over-directed. The movie moved to subtly along. That is talent.

Why do you think it took so long for there to be so many female directors?

Hello, we are in the adult industry. An industry that thrives on exploiting women. In this biz, to be treated with respect as an intelligent woman, likes moving mountains. They would prefer us to shut up, look pretty and sit in the corner with a cock in our ass. Which, don’t get me wrong, that is hot but we of course can do much more then that.

Who do you think was the first female director? (in adult?)

Canadide Royalle?

Do you think the fact that a movie has been directed by a woman makes it more 'acceptable' for certain people to watch?

Not. I produce and direct 5 titles a month. My series titles are:

Brittany’s Bitch Boys- where women put strap ons on and rape men’s asses!

Exquisite Feet

Lesbians in Lust

Smoking Sirens

Bitches Beating Boys

So no, not all women want to see a bunch of fucking fluff. That really pisses me off, when people think that if you put some candles in a movie then it is fit for female consumption., The last time I checked, candles and good set design did not make my pussy wet. They always are like oh its a couple’s video. Which usually means it’s a video that is made not to offend women. Which offends me because no one actually looked into simply finding out what does make a woman horny and wet? The assumption that all women want a good story line and no crude shots is ridiculous. We like sick and twisted stuff too, just like the next man.

Do you think consumers expect something different from female directors?

Yes, I think it adds allot more personality to the tapes. Kinda like a website. When a male consumer goes to a site that is run by a bunch of men it is lacking personality. When you come to a site ran by a female, it’s like having a girlfriend to go to every night. She is there, so are her friends, it pretty, pink etc. Soft and inviting. I try to create that same feeling with my videos.

Does male talent ever have issues with taking direction from female directors?

If I ever had a bitch talk back to me, I would bend him over and put my cock in his ass with my fist in his mouth.

No, not on MY set J

Anything else about female direction you want to add...

I am looking forward to seeing where the female directors of today and the future take sexuality to new places of sexual exploration for both men and women.

Relationships in porn...

Is difficult but so not even close to impossible or more difficult then out of porn. Just different issues sometimes.

Part II Relationships

How difficult is it to have a relationship when you work in porn?

I do not find it difficult at all. I have been in the biz for 12 years and have been in 5 relationships, 2 of them were around two and a half years. You just have to find people that are open and not jealous in nature.

Is it easier to date someone in the business than out of it? Why?

I do not date people in the biz as they are just not my type.

How would you feel about your partner working with other people?

I don’t date peeps in the biz so NA.

How do you feel about people who will only work with their partner?

I think that they should not be in this biz as it shows insecurity in the relationship and one thing you definitely need in this biz is freedom, space and trust in your partner. But you know to each is own. I wish them luck.

What kind of stresses does porn put on relationships?

None, if you do not allow it to be an issue in your relationships, which I do not. I would not pick to be with a person that would stress me out over what I do or how I do it. Not my nature to take shit from anyone, especially about what I do. I do what I do and I do it well, either respect me for it or forget about it. There are millions of men out there and a shit load of them do not care or mind. I choose to pick the men, that love, respect and understand me and support what I do.

Alternatively, can working in porn add something to a relationship?

Yeah, you are a professional, which means you fucking rock under the sheets. LOL. Plus if you are traveling they can just go and rent something and have instant new masturbation material on you.

Do porn marriages work?

I can not talk for others so…. I have never been married to a man in porn and don’t plan on it, so I can’t say.
